Alter Aeon is a type of game commonly called a MUD, or Multiple User Dungeon. It is an on-line environment where different people from all over the world can get together and interact in a huge virtual world. In a lot of ways, this is similar to other online games such as Ultima Online and World of Warcraft.
Advanced and new players are both welcome. New players will find an extensive support structure of Avatars, low level areas and quests specifically designed for newbies, as well as extensive on-line help and FAQs.
There is a place for everyone here. The brave of heart can trek to the edges of the world in search of fortune and fame, and sometimes bring home vast treasures. Those less confident in their abilities can remain in safer or more protected lands, or join up with others to reduce risk. Come test your mettle in the world of Alter Aeon!

Alter Aeon isn't an ordinary mud. The player base is unique because it is made up of really friendly people. People are delighted to help newcomers, or even midbies with questions that they have with the game. You learn something new every day there! Even when you have played for years. Alter Aeon has many unique features, like the replay action which allows you to replay messages that you may have missed, from channels, or tells, or even people saying stuff in the room. Alter Aeon has a TONS of different areas, and most of them are original. Alter Aeon doesn't base it's areas off of other games, like Final Fantasy or anything like that. The areas come from the imaginations of the mudders themselves. Alter Aeon has multiple spell branches, and skill branches. The leveling system in Alter Aeon is unique because it offers the ability to be all classes at the same time. Mage, Cleric, Thief, and Warrior. You choose which kind of character and which kind of skills you can have. It is possible to get any and all skills in the game if you gain the right kind of levels and stat points. You choose your strengths! Alter Aeon has it's own clients, and the owner of the mud is working on getting a new client created. There might even be an iPhone application mud client.
